THE PRACTICAL DETAILS
Prepare for the journey ahead.
A few details are worth working through while your plans are taking shape.
What if my journey includes a border crossing?
Include every crossing in your plans, even a day trip to Chobe or the other side of Victoria Falls. Check entry and re-entry permissions for the complete sequence of countries, including your return to where you are staying.
What should I check when travelling with children?
Confirm each child’s travel documents and any consent or supporting paperwork required for your route. Requirements can depend on nationality and who accompanies the child. Check with the relevant authorities and your airline before departure. Read South Africa’s official guidance for children.
What about transit stops and onward travel?
Check the rules for each transit country, including whether you will pass through immigration. Keep any required onward or return travel details and accommodation confirmations ready to present.
What if I am driving across borders?
Ask your rental company and the relevant border authorities to confirm the vehicle documents, permissions and insurance needed for your exact route. Arrange these before collecting your vehicle.
